Noroi: the curse (2005) 👹

Ugh! It is again time to talk about horror, but this time it's real (I mean "a real horror movie"🙄). This is actually my fav horror sub-genre: Found footage. This film will not disappoint anybody.

ãƒŽãƒã‚¤ (The curse in English) is not a film based on real events but its found footage style is what makes it look real. Masafumi Kobayashi is our main character here, he is a paranormal reporter in pursuit of the truth about certain events that might be somehow connected (he thinks). They let us know from the very beginning that what we are beholding is a documentary about Kobayashi and his research.

I do not want to spoil but this face is symbolic throughout the movie. Scary, isn't it? That's why people plead this is one of the best J-HORROR films ever.

These paranormal events go from a neighbor named Junko Ishii with strange crying baby sounds coming out of her house, a little girl with physic abilities who unexpectedly disappeared, and an insane (but not so crazy) man who claims that everything happens because of "ectoplasmic worms", to this girl named Marika Matsumoto who's been possessed by a malevolent demon.

With the camera in hand, Kobayashi and his cameraman went on a journey that led to a very obscure secret. as I said before, I do not want to spoil anything here, but it is needly to say that this film is narrated in mockumentary style, the film grows increasingly disturbing and addictive with a jaw-dropping climax. Are the events connected? Why did this happen? where is it? what is that? These are recurrent questions you may have along with the fright. In the wake of these tragedies, more tragedies and secrets are revealed to show that this is not just a paranormal activity.
