Mom and dad (2017) ๐จ๐ฉ๐ง๐ฆ
Who needs a really active comedy horror movie? ๐
The story follows a suburban family: a hard-working dad, a stay-at-home mom, a younger son, and a rebellious daughter. On the surface, everything seems normal in the Ryan household, with Brent disapproving of his daughter Carly's new relationship. Meanwhile, Carly feels alienated from her mother, Kendall, and frequently argues with her brother, Joshua. On the other hand, Kendall fills her time with hobbies like fitness classes and eagerly awaits the birth of her sister's baby.
But one day, the lives of children around the world are drastically altered when a mental virus compels all parents to want to kill their offspring. Surprising, isn't it? ๐. Suddenly, parents become unnaturally fixated on their children, but not for protective reasons. Large crowds of parents rush to harm their offspring without apparent reason. This sudden, violent shift in behavior is caused by an unknown mass psychogenic illness.
The situation becomes a nightmare for the Ryan siblings when they find themselves trapped at home with their parents, who devise increasingly ingenious ways to eliminate them. Their goal becomes brutally simple: survive their parents.
From a spectator's point of view, the plot might seem comically bizarre, especially given its artistic approach. However, from an analytical perspective, the film raises interesting topics for discussion, such as the lack of communication in modern households, marital tensions that foster apathy, and the fragmentation of family relationships. It also touches on deeper societal issues. Furthermore, the virus serves as a metaphor for parents' hidden frustrations and an exaggerated representation of occasional violent impulses.
