Marcel The shell with shoes on (2021) 🐚

 

   Picture this, you rent a house out on Airbnb and what you find is a shell with shoes on, LITERALLY! 🤯 what would you do? Well, a whole documentary sounds great, isn't it?

   This delightful, smooth movie follows Marcel (the shell) alongside Connie (his grandma shell) and Dean (the cameraman and tenant). It all begins with Dean finding Marcell and Connie in his rented house, in an instant, he couldn’t believe the fact of having two talking shells wearing shoes, therefore, Dean decided to take this perfect opportunity and practice his filmmaking skills and document Marcell's life and experience daily.

   Marcel tells his story and reflects upon his old life, where there used to be more of his kind living together in the same home. Now only he and his nanny Connie work, collect, serve, and play in the home that once belonged to many.

Dean (the cameraman)

   Dean, convinced by that incredible story, set out to let the world know Marcel. What at some point was a story to tell now becomes a search, the search for Marcel's family.

   Marcel the Shell with shoes on tells us the reality of a child far from his family and how he, resilient in his emotions, knows that peace is in a perfect balance between solitude and company. Many say that the more the merrier, but this film is a slap to that reality. Understanding that the more the merrier is just an intermittent feeling is a new state of mind.
